The Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP)

The Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) is a five-year project at Bryan College to enhance student learning and improve student retention.

Using a variety of data-gathering procedures including the National Survey of Student Engagement and the Faculty Survey of Student Engagement, the College QEP Team identified two benchmark areas as a focus for the enhancement of student learning at Bryan. A faculty examination of those benchmarks, "active and collaborative learning" and "enriching educational experiences," led to recommendations that the QEP seek to develop two kinds of student learning at Bryan: more collaborative experiences in and out of class and an increase in field experiences, practica, and internships.

The plan that was developed by the QEP Team began by examining current best practices on and off campus and moved to promoting faculty development in the areas of those best practices.

Since the fall of 2004, five faculty workshops regarding collaborative and field experience learning have been held, QEP student learning outcomes have been identified, and assessment of the progress of the plan using the Bryan model for institutional planning and evaluation has been initiated.
