How Does Italy Abroad Work?

The Classes

Classes fall into a modular schedule in early February. Nineteen credit hours are taken one class at a time over one- or two-week periods; some modules offer two concurrent classes for students to choose between. Lectures begin at 9 a.m. and last until 6 p.m. Monday through Friday with a three-hour lunch break (or riposo). Homework for the next day is completed each evening. This system enables students to enjoy a deep, intensive look at each subject with their professor and classmates, and enjoy most weekends free of homework.

Classes offered in Spring '10 include:
  • Cross-Cultural Missions & Evangelism with on-field expert, Sam Spatola, Sr. (3 credits)
  • Fine Arts with Dr. Mel Wilhoit, or its alternative Italian Renaissance Art (3 credits)
  • Introduction to Literature with Dr. Ray Legg
  • New Testament Literature & Interpretation with Dr. Jud Davis (3 credits)
  • The Gospel of Mark with Matt Benson (3 credits)
  • A CLF readings class (1 credit)
  • Intercultural Communication with Dr. Randy Hollingsworht (3 credits)
  • Contemporary Issues of the Church with Dr. Drew Randle (3 credits)
