Hayley Abernathy, a May 2009 graduate, presented research with
Dr. Michele Pascucci, Assistant Professor of Spanish, last month at the national AATSP (American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese) in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Their research and publication, "Peer Tutoring, Writing and Support Center," was made possible by a grant from the Brotherton Foundation.

Hayley, an English major, served as the Spanish Coordinator in the
Academic Support Center (ASC) while pursuing her degree. Just after graduation, she was hired as a full-time English teacher at a large classical Christian school in Morristown, TN, in part because the administrators were impressed with the one-to-one tutoring work and the research Hayley had completed in the ASC.
