Bryan College is working closely with the Bryan PolyClinic, in cooperation with local, state, and federal health officials to monitor and respond to the situation with regard to H1N1 (swine flu).In response to a possible outbreak, Bryan College is
- Providing hand sanitizer in key locations on campus.
- Administering the vaccine to students when it becomes available.
- Displaying “Cover Your Cough/Clean Your Hands” posters throughout campus.
- Instructing students who display the following flu-like symptoms to go to the Bryan PolyClinic to be examined.
- Fever (usually high)
- Headache
- Tiredness (can be extreme)
- Cough
- Sore throat
- Runny or stuffy nose
- Body aches
- Diarrhea and vomiting (more common among children than adults)
- Prohibiting students with type A flu (the more serious version) from attending classes and instructing infected employees and faculty to stay home.
- Monitoring the extent of any flu outbreak to determine the most prudent action. In the event of a major outbreak, students with confirmed cases of flu may be required to go home until they are free of their symptoms for 24 hours.
