Dr. Scott Jones and his wife Kim led a couples conference for members of New Union Baptist Church. The theme of the conference was “How You Can Be the Best Spouse for One Another – The One Anothers of the New Testament.” The conference was held in Sevierville, TN, January 24-25, 2009.

Dr. Ken Turner has published an article: “The Kind-ness of God: A Theological Reflection on the Meaning of Min ‘Kind’.” In Genesis Kinds: Creationism and the Origin of Species. CORE Issues in Creation, no. 5. Edited by T. C. Wood and P.A. Garner (Eugene: Wipf and Stock Publishers, 2009), pp. 31-64.

Dr. Bill Ketchersid and his Federal Seminar students attended the NAE's Christian Student Leadership Conference in Washington, DC, January 12-16.

Mr. Bernie Belisle and Dr. Mel Wilhoit took a group of 29 students and friends of the college to London for ten days after Christmas on a Theatre and Fine Arts tour.  They stayed one block from Buckingham Palace.

Dr. Doug Kennard has published a peer review and requested article:  “Hebrew Metaphysic:  Life, Holy, Clean, Righteousness, and Sacrifice,” in Answers Research Journal 1 (2008):  169-196.  This article was requested from parts that make up two academic papers presented this past summer.

Dr. Bill Ketchersid’s book review of Noah A. Trudeau’s, Southern Storm, Sherman’s March to the Sea, is scheduled to appear in the spring edition of the Journal of Southern History. An interview with B.B.C. radio about the Scopes Trial will air sometime in January or February.

Dr. Ray Legg and his wife Margie Legg led a retreat for members of Garrison Baptist Church.  The theme of the retreat was “Fireproofing Your Marriage,” and it was held in Knoxville, TN, January 23-24, 2009.

Dr. Jeff Myers has the following schedule:

  • February 5-6 – Keynote speaker for the ACSI Administrator Conference, Chicago, IL;
  • February 11-12 – Keynote speaker for the National Catholic Educators Association Deans Conference, San Francisco, CA;
  • February 15 – Speaker for three Sunday morning sermons at New Testament Baptist Church, Miami, FL;
  • February 16 – Keynote speaker for Passing the Baton, Dade Christian School, Miami, FL; and 
  • February 17-25 – Passing the Baton: training the team to reach 200,000 Christians in 2009-2010, Chennai, India.

Mr. Mike Sapienza has been promoted to Vice President for Enrollment Management.  He will work actively with many departments on campus, coordinating a campus-wide effort in attracting students to Bryan and maximizing the retention efforts.  He will also evaluate and streamline multiple points of student data entry and collection.

Dr. Mel Wilhoit’s review of the Chattanooga Symphony’s recent concert appeared in the January 16 issue of the Chattanooga Times Free Press.
