Department of Christian Thought & Philosophy

The Christian Thought & Philosophy program began in the Fall 2006 semester.

I am Dr. Paul Boling and am directing this new major program. I am excited about the possibilities for this major because it fits so well into the both the historical milieu and the worldview emphasis of the college.

As far as the program itself goes, in addition to the core curriculum and Bible requirements that all students take, this program requires 50 credits drawn from multiple disciplines, 15 hours of philosophy, 9 hours of apologetics and theology, 2 years of Greek language, and courses in economics, history, government, spiritual life, and English. There is also a senior seminar course in which students will research and write a thesis on a topic in Christian thought. Students will also complete a minimum of four credits in cooperation with the lecture series through the Bryan Institute for Critical Thought and Practice.

A student who completes this program will automatically have a minor in biblical studies.

The major will teach you how to think critically, holistically, and Christianly; and it will be excellent preparation for any future profession, as well as seminary, law school, or graduate study in a variety of disciplines. One of our recent graduates is now in law school and another one is beginning seminary training in the fall of 2009. The possibilities are endless with this major!

I look forward to working with you in this exciting new program!
