SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY: Martin Luther King, Jr., Day

Each year, professors, students, and staff break from the routine of classes to bless the community in many of its service needs. With packed lunches in hand, the Bryan community spread out across Rhea County to demonstrate Christ's love through service.

"I was impressed to see 15 of the students moving sawed logs in 19-degree weather. Four others transplanted approximately 28 Hemlock saplings from the woods ... By noon, the students had completed what we thought might take two days."

"As a group, I was impressed with their quiet, gentle spirit, and their servant attitude."

"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep onself from being polluted by the world." James 1:27 (NIV)

SERVICE TO THE NATIONAL COMMUNITY: Hurricane Katrina Relief

In October 2005, 80 members of the Bryan community gave up their fall break to serve others in Baton Rouge, LA. To read about their trip, click here.
